town centre uses

Town Planning Services has particular expertise in retail planning and town centre uses. The Directors have acted on behalf of major retailers and household names such as Tesco Stores Limited, House of Fraser, Pound Stretcher and Wells & Co Brewery.  We are currently working on various proposals for new Aldi stores and have acted as expert witnesses for Caffè Nero and KFC franchises. We have been asked to provide written articles for a number of trade publications and presented at the UK Coffee Leader Summit.

As well as dealing with larger retail warehouses and supermarkets, the firm acts on behalf of asset managers and owners of shopping centres.  Not only have we dealt with larger refurbishment proposals to introduce new facilities such as cinemas or food courts, but we also deal with day to day issues including changes of use and operational queries such as air conditioning, plant and advertisement consents.

The Directors have all the necessary expertise and can deal with the technical issues, including the ‘sequential test’ and ‘impact’ assessments.  We can undertake detailed assessments of the health of town centres using up to date information and frequently commission bespoke surveys to support planning applications.  Some of our clients are other town planning consultancies, for whom we offer technical support on retail policy and economic impact issues.
